Deploy cost-effective 4:3 industrial touch computing with the 10″ Capacitive Touch PC X6413E (Large Case) — the Atom-powered alternative to faytech’s Core i5 Large Case Touch PC family, engineered for industrial automation, control panel HMI, legacy SCADA refresh, and dedicated-function commercial deployment where adequate compute performance and cost efficiency matter more than premium processing headroom. The 9.7″ XGA display in 4:3 aspect ratio is specifically suited to traditional industrial HMI software and SCADA interfaces designed before widescreen became standard.
Powered by an Intel® Atom® x6413E (Elkhart Lake) Quad-Core processor with 8 GB DDR4 RAM and a 120 GB SSD, this platform handles industrial HMI software, modern web-based control interfaces, and dedicated-function commercial workloads efficiently at just 20W. Industrial connectivity is comprehensive: dual Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi, 4× USB ports, dual RS-232 COM ports for legacy industrial equipment, and a SIM card slot for cellular options. Same chassis design as the Core i5 Large Case sibling, with the Atom platform delivering meaningful cost savings for buyers who don’t need vPro-class compute. The modular Front Kit + Large IPC Back Kit design supports independent service replacement. Wide 9-36V DC power input enables PoE deployment or alternative DC power sources. Pre-installed Debian 12; Linux Ubuntu and Windows 10/11 available on request.
The 10″ Capacitive Touch PC X6413E (Large Case) is faytech's Atom-based industrial touch PC in the Large Case form factor — engineered as the cost-effective alternative to the Core i5 sibling for deployments where the platform demands are well within Atom Quad-Core capability and buyers prioritize value over premium compute headroom. This is the right product for fleet deployments of dedicated-function HMI workstations, equipment OEM integration projects where unit cost drives buying decisions, industrial automation refresh hardware for facilities standardized on the Large Case form factor, and any commercial deployment where the Atom platform is operationally adequate.
Same Form Factor as Core i5 Sibling — Different Compute Tier
This product shares the identical chassis design, display panel, connectivity layout, and mounting infrastructure as the Core i5 10″ Touch PC (FT10BI5CAPOB). The difference is the internal compute platform: this product uses the Intel Atom x6413E (Elkhart Lake) Quad-Core processor, while the i5 sibling uses the Intel Core i5-1145G7E (Tiger Lake U) vPro processor. The two products are visually identical, install identically into the same mounting infrastructure, and offer identical connectivity. The buying decision is purely about compute tier and cost.
When to choose this Atom version:
- Dedicated-function HMI workstations running well-optimized industrial software within Atom-class capability
- Equipment OEM integration where unit cost drives the buy decision and OEM software is designed for Atom-class platforms
- Fleet deployments at scale where per-unit cost savings multiply meaningfully across hundreds of installations
- Cost-sensitive refresh projects upgrading legacy 4:3 hardware where the new Atom platform exceeds the legacy hardware's compute capability anyway
- Edge IoT deployments where the workload is well-defined and Atom-class compute is appropriate
When to choose the Core i5 sibling instead:
- Multi-application operator workstations running SCADA + document management + corporate productivity concurrently
- Modern browser-based HMI with multiple WebSocket connections and high-frequency telemetry
- Computer-vision-augmented inspection software or AI-assisted predictive maintenance applications
- vPro remote management requirements for IT fleet management across distributed facilities
- Higher storage requirements — the i5 sibling has 240 GB SSD vs 120 GB on this Atom version
Intel Atom Industrial Compute Platform
The platform is built around the Intel® Atom® x6413E processor from Intel's Elkhart Lake family — a modern Quad-Core x86 SoC designed specifically for industrial IoT, edge computing, and dedicated-function commercial deployment. The Atom x6413E offers a deliberate balance of performance and power efficiency: enough compute headroom to run industrial software, web-based HMI applications, dedicated-function POS, and signage management at low power consumption (20W under load).
Paired with 8 GB DDR4 RAM and a 120 GB SSD (proper SSD, not eMMC), the platform handles industrial control software, signage management systems, kiosk applications, and modern web frameworks within Atom-appropriate workload boundaries. For workloads beyond this envelope, the Core i5 sibling is the appropriate choice.
Operating System Options
Debian 12 ships pre-installed as standard (note: Pyramid Computer GmbH is not affiliated with Debian; Debian is a registered trademark owned by Software in the Public Interest, Inc.). Additional OS options available on request (with additional fee): Linux Ubuntu 22.4 LTS, Windows 10, and Windows 11. Note: Windows 10/11 may run more constrained on the Atom platform than on the Core i5 sibling; for Windows-heavy multi-application deployments, the i5 version is the better choice. For Linux-based dedicated-function deployment, the Atom platform performs well within its workload boundaries.
Display – 9.7″ XGA in 4:3 Aspect Ratio
The display is specified to match legacy industrial HMI software requirements: 9.7″ across the diagonal, 1024×768 XGA resolution, and 4:3 aspect ratio. Industrial software written in the past 20 years was designed for 4:3 panels. Running these on widescreen displays creates real operational issues. The 4:3 panel renders these interfaces correctly without compromise.
Brightness is 300 cd/m², contrast 800:1, viewing angles 170°/170°. LED backlight lifetime is 20,000 hours, supporting continuous deployment. The display uses LVDS interface internally.
Touch System
The 10-point projected capacitive multi-touch panel is built on 1.1 mm thermally strengthened cover glass with AG anti-glare surface treatment, IK08 impact protection, and faytech's Clear Bond® optical bonding. The EXC81W60 touch controller communicates via USB. Touch resolution is 36 RX × 27 TX.
Industrial Connectivity
Network: 2× 10/100/1000 Mbit Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 ports (Realtek® 8111H) supporting network segmentation. Wi-Fi via Intel® AC 3168 module with included RP-SMA female antenna. Power over Ethernet (PoE) is available upon request.
USB: 2× USB 3.0 + 2× USB 2.0.
Video Output: 1× HDMI + 1× DisplayPort for external display extension.
Industrial Serial: 2× RS-232 COM ports (RX/TX only, DSUB9) for legacy industrial equipment integration. Standard pinout: Pin 2 RXD1, Pin 3 TXD1, Pin 5/10/11 GND.
Additional connectors: 1× Audio In/Out (Realtek® ALC897 Audio CODEC), 1× SD card slot, 1× SIM card slot.
Modular Front Kit + Large IPC Back Kit Design
This product implements faytech's modular Front Kit + Back Kit architecture, with the Large IPC Back Kit (X6413E) — the same chassis design as the Core i5 Large Case family, but configured with the Atom processor:
- 10″ Rubber Frame Front Kit: Contains the 9.7″ display panel, projected capacitive touch sensor, cover glass with Clear Bond® optical bonding, rubber frame structural assembly, and the IP65 sealing system. Identical to the front kit used on the 10″ Core i5 sibling.
- Large IPC Back Kit (X6413E): Contains the Intel Atom x6413E compute platform, all external connectivity, network hardware, storage, and the aluminum IPC back case with passive thermal management fins. Same physical chassis as the Core i5 Large Back Kit, configured with the Atom platform.
The shared physical infrastructure between the Atom and i5 Large Case families is operationally meaningful: organizations deploying mixed Atom and i5 Touch PCs can use the same mounting hardware, the same kiosk enclosures, the same cut-out templates, and the same service inventory infrastructure. The compute platform decision is independent of the physical integration decision.
Independent kit replacement during service supports:
- Compute platform refresh as Intel processor generations advance
- Field damage replacement of cracked cover glass without retiring the working back kit and configured OS image
- OEM integration projects where custom enclosures house the back kit separately from the front kit
- Cross-compute service flexibility — organizations can upgrade from Atom to Core i5 in the same physical infrastructure if compute requirements grow
Note: Front Kit + Back Kit assembly to be done by a professional to maintain IP65 seal integrity.
Mounting Options
- VESA 100 × 100 mounting: Standard wall-mount arms, articulating mounts, monitor stands, and industrial pole mounts.
- 4-clamp open-frame integration: Installation into custom kiosk enclosures, retail counters, industrial control panels, or built-in HMI positions via a 231.0 × 190.0 mm cut-out, secured by 4 clamps. Maximum clamp wall thickness is 5.0 mm.
Wide Power Input & Environmental
The platform accepts 9-36V DC wide power input — supporting standard 12V industrial DC, vehicle 24V systems, 48V battery backup systems (regulated), and the PoE option. The included 100-240V AC active-switching adapter outputs 12V DC. Operating power consumption is 20W with under 1W standby — even more efficient than the Core i5 sibling (26W). Hypothetical Application Scenarios
Cost-Effective Industrial Automation Fleet Deployment: Picture a manufacturing facility deploying dozens of HMI workstations at machine stations and line operator positions. The Atom platform handles the well-optimized SCADA client and equipment control software adequately; the per-unit cost savings multiply meaningfully across the fleet; the shared form factor with Core i5 siblings means supervisor positions can use i5 hardware while line positions use Atom hardware, all in the same mounting infrastructure.
Equipment OEM Integration — Cost-Sensitive Product Lines: Equipment manufacturers building products with integrated HMI panels at competitive price points can use the Atom Large Case as the compute platform — same physical integration as the Core i5 version but at lower cost, allowing the OEM to offer Atom-based products in their entry/mid-tier and Core i5 versions in their premium tier without changing the physical equipment design.
Legacy 4:3 SCADA Refresh — Cost-Optimized Path: Industrial facilities refreshing aging 4:3 SCADA hardware can use this Atom Large Case product where the new platform comfortably exceeds the compute capability of the legacy hardware being replaced. The 4:3 panel maintains software compatibility; the Atom processor is meaningfully more capable than the platforms it's replacing; the cost is appropriately positioned for refresh projects with budget constraints.
Dedicated Kiosk Compute — Single-Application Deployments: Self-service kiosks running a single dedicated application (visitor management, ticket dispensing, information display, queue management) benefit from the Atom platform's cost-efficiency without performance compromise. The application workload is well within Atom capability; the IP65 front supports public-facing deployment; the modular Front+Back Kit design supports service replacement at scale.
Building Automation — Distributed Floor-Level Control: Building automation systems deploying floor-level HVAC, lighting, and security control interfaces at scale can use the Atom Large Case to optimize per-unit cost across many installation points. The PoE option (upon request) simplifies installation; the dual Ethernet supports building automation network plus IT network.
Process Equipment Local Interfaces — Mid-Tier Product Lines: Process equipment manufacturers building mid-tier products (vs flagship offerings using Core i5) can integrate the Atom Large Case as the local operator interface. Same form factor maintains compatibility with their existing equipment designs at flagship tier; the Atom platform runs the OEM control software efficiently.
Educational Training Facilities: Technical schools and corporate training programs equipping multiple training stations benefit from the per-unit cost savings of the Atom platform. The 4:3 panel matches industrial standards students will encounter in industry; the Core i5 alternative is available for advanced training positions where it's appropriate.
Healthcare — Dedicated Function Bedside & Auxiliary Stations: Hospitals deploying dedicated-function bedside devices, auxiliary nursing station terminals, and patient-facing information displays can use the Atom platform where the workload is bounded. Same IP65 cleaning protocols as the Core i5 sibling; cost-optimized for high-quantity deployment.
Retail – Dedicated POS at Cost-Sensitive Positions: Retail chains can use this Atom Large Case at lower-tier POS positions (back-office kiosks, employee terminals, single-function customer service stations) while reserving Core i5 Touch PCs for higher-traffic primary customer-facing positions. Mixed deployment within the same store using shared physical infrastructure.
